new book so obviously this is a uality BOOK SO OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A UALITY ISSUE so obviously this is a uality control issue the publishing company It also had probably 20 blank pages in the back followed by redundant pages 103 124 The book is published by Harcourt Brace and Company I am going to try to send it back and get a complete copy of the book I am a retired college professor and have seen upside down pages etc in text books but never remember a book missing pages unless it "Was A Used Book "a used book of now I am UNHAPPY 1984 is coming I think Animal Farm just happened In this weird time of different news and decisions being made every day reading Animal Farm can open our eyes to what is happening around is We have our very own Napoleon and Suealer making their own rules and changing these whenever they need toThe uality of this edition is superb Would ook amazing in a personal ibrary Text is a nice size and there is great additional content Well worth a buy No spoilers here just buy it and read it you really won t be disappointed In the 21st century when we believe that everything is evolving around us and that all countries are moving forward we realize that there is still a parasite which it is difficult to get rid ofCountries that had the opportunity to evolve have had to pass a difficult test of not falling into totalitarianism and ambition Such was the case of some countries of the Soviet Union that achieved iberation but still others continue to fall into the same abyss from which they can t rise or don t want to since that parasite has crawled in the mind of their crowd as did happen in North Korea China etcAnimal Farm shows the perfect example of how the unhealthy idea of a cheap Socialism began to take root to become a dictatorial Communism as it happens in Venezuela today Its strange end Deutsche Volks Und Heldensagen leaves a bitter taste that perhaps the writer did on purpose to open the consciousness of future generations An open endin Oh boy This book affected me a great deal was surprised by how much Orwell was subtle and clever in writing this fable about a farm where the animals overthrow the farmer and take over They decided make it an animals utopia of justice and fairness for all since all animals are eual some are eual than others itater transpired After putting their hearts. Manor Farm into Animal Farm a wholly democratic society built on the credo that All Animals Are Created Eual Out of their cleverness the pigs Napoleon Suealer and Snowball emerge as eaders of the new community in a subtle evolution And souls into the revolution Things Don T Get Better don t get better get worse The answer is for everyone to work harder However the pigs who are the brains behind the show get to ive in the farmer s house and to walk on their hind egs something they d sworn never to do The run of the mill animals are told how to think and how to behave by constant indoctrination from the developing upper classOrwell s story is based on the Russian Revolution but could probably apply to the French Cuban and Venezuelan Revolutions as well Orwell was a Socialist
#he rushed off #rushed off Spain to fight with the Communists in 1936 but he returned to England uite disillusioned having realised that the Fascisti and the factions on his side were not really all that different It s a great pity that his tragic ife was cut short At age forty seven he was on his deathbed writing his second masterpiece 1984 Had he ived onger one wonders how his writing and political outlook may have changed if at all and what other great works he would have created to make us think deeply This is only a short novel stretching to just over one hundred pages written in simple English but with a very powerful message It is easy to readAlthough set in rural England it Is A Thinly Veiled a thinly veiled of Stalinism written at the time when the dictator was at the height of his power and in integral ally in the fight against Hitler A Connecting With Horses little understanding of European history during the 1920 s and 1930 s is necessary to make the parallel connections but the plot still works without this knowledge This is a story about how theess fortunate can become victims of the manipulative It is about the abuse of power and how the unscrupulous could brutally exploit the willing Unlike the sub title it does not have a fairy tale endingThe introduction and the two appendices compelling essays in their own right give a nice insight to why the author wanted to write this story and the original Establishment objections to its publication I have been a fan of Orwell since I read 1984 but I never read Animal Farm beforeI have to say I ve seldom read such a satire of a real political system Unfortunately it reminds me to much the Cuban history from the end of Batista to the current daysIt should be compulsory in any high school. Hat bears an insidious familiarity The climax is the brutal betrayal of the faithful horse Boxer when totalitarian rule is re established with the bloodstained postscript to the founding slogan But Some Animals Are More Eual Than Other.

#but we dismiss #we dismiss so we can continue feeling safeIf 1984 describes our near future Animal Farm is the here and nowOrwell clearly wrote this knowing what had happened before to warn us it would almost certainly happen again I think our time is up cover of the book I have received from matches the image of the advertised product as do the bibliographic Penguin 2013 However the book I received does not contain an introduction not by Bradbury nor anyone else The introduction by Bradbury was the main reason I chose this particular edition The uality of the paper it is printed on is uite poor tooI have been trying to contact regarding this but they hit a snag with chat and Click2Call isn t available right now What happened to the option of sending them an email are generally uite reliable so I am disappointed that there is no way of contacting them This edition is really messed up It ends on page 70 and starts back up on a page 103 Coincidentally because that page doesn t end the sentence and page 103 doesn t start a sentence my middle school age son continue to read it without noticing When he went to take the comprehension test he had to stop the test in the middle because it was asking uestions about things he never read When he went through the book carefully we realized it s completely missed printed and is missing about 30 pages I enjoyed reading the book but felt cheated because it. George Orwell's classic satire of the Russian Revolution is an intimate part of our contemporary culture uoted so often that we tend to forget who wrote the original words It is an account of the bold struggle that transforms Mr Jones'.
